Just prior to the Q&A portion of the call, Jobs went into a 5-minute rant about the state of both the smartphone and tablet markets. Notably, he went directly after Google and their "open system" and he laughed off the idea that the iPad will have any real competition. Amazing stuff. Open versus closed, the idea of "open", fragmentation, tablet price points and more. If you wondered what Steve Jobs thinks, this is the phone call to listen to, he's definitely not holding back. In the Q&A he was asked about the GalaxyTab it got even better which he derided as "tweeners". He harps on their limited app selection, and the conclusion was that these tablets will be "DOA." We'll see, the 7 inch form factor is the perfect blend of screen size and portability. There are only around 500 fun game apps and 100 handy apps on the app store. The rest is shit! For every word there is an overpriced app that can't do shit on the AppStore and the 100 handy apps on the app store are just apps that try to cover the shortcomings of apple devices like vlc player that works like shit on apple devices! Android needs to cut down on the fragmentation to really compete with the apps...it's too much of a headache for developers and the main reason why apps normally end up on iOS first...Android only tends to see the apps that do really well on iOS

@Grafight2 people may not care about all that stuff but it is what makes the fast ui quick browsing and all those complex apps that people run so good. So maybe people don't care but without people wouldn't get still the things they care about. And to all the iphone fan boys androids with 2.2 are way faster than any iphone with ios. The simple fact is that flash isn't included on iphones because they are too shit to handle it

@effahthebest iPhone has been out longer, so it is no wonder that it has sold more. iPhone and Android can do the same amount; the difference is whether or not the apps exist to do it - also, how many identical apps are there for the iPhone and how many for the Android. Come on guys let's be honest here. I mean don't get me wrong, I loved android since it started when I bought my g1 two years ago. But Steve raises a very important point. The fact that, it's true, android is open to innovation but all the overlays manufacturers put in and the lack of regulation on update times gets to be a real pain in the ass. And developers are annoyed as hell when they have to test it out on many different handsets. Not saying iPhone is better since it's true it lacks a few

Ok here's the question you need to ask. Which is better android or iPhone (iOS) Which has sold more? Which looks much more professional? Which can do more? (apps) Which has taking over the phone industry? Which started it? And who began to copy it? And finally do you really think apple is wrong in not letting flash play on the iDevices?

I've seen several separate interviews with Bill Gates and Steve Balmer and when the topic of Apple inevitably comes up they both will say something along the lines of "Apple is a great company, but we feel that...". There is no childish fanboy bashing, which is precisely what Jobs is doing here and what he has always done. I can't say that it hasn't worked for him, but it will come to bite him sooner or later - I'm thinking sooner. Android is a great platform.

@studioscion Actually I can compare the two because I have used both. The iphone is an efficient device but I have the HTC desire which is an Android phone with the HTC sense interface over it. I prefer this phone over the Iphone and it is a worthy adversary. The HTC Sense is beautiful and customizable along with the Android OS. Now there is the HTC desire HD which is even better and I think it gives the iphone 4 a run for its money. I have experience using both and I am not biased.

I've used a 3rd gen iPod touch for like 9 months then finally got an iPhone, I've played with many droids and I just hate the os it seems very stripped down when compared to iOS. IOS just flat out works Better to me it is so much more user friendly and with the apple ecosystem, they shouldn't be threatened. ya jobs we heard your. crap too many times i gave up my iphone 4 for a droid x im not going back to apple i have adobe flash 3g everywhere and a 4.3 in touch screen i love. android and i know im nott the only one ether android can download games off the web run almost any file and best the android market is better then the app store i have 50 free snes games
